The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony was a great success

The brightest and the best talents of silver screen has been awarded and honored at the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards held in Beverly Hills, California on the thirteenth day of January, 2013. Les Miserables won three awards at the ceremony in the category of the Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical. Hugh Jackman stole the star of the ceremony with his outstanding performance in the movie. Anne Hathaway grabbed an award for the best female protagonist in a supporting role in the movie. Argo has been awarded as the Best Motion Picture- Drama. Ben Affleck has directed the film outstandingly and has been aptly awarded as the best director for the category of motion picture.

Besides Argo, the nominations in the category Best Motion Picture were Lincoln, Life of Pi, Zero Dark Thirty and Django Unchained. Django Unchained, directed by Quentin Tarantino grabbed two awards. This film got a high acclamation from film critics for Christoph Waltz’s performance. He was successful in winning the award for best male protagonist in a supporting role in the film. The Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay went to Quentin Tarantino for the same movie. The casting of the film had been done superbly and Tarantino looked confident enough when he went ahead to collect the award. The bold and beautiful Jessica Chastain won the award for the Best Actress in the category of Best Performance in a Motion Picture – Drama for her acting in the action thriller movie named as Zero Dark Thirty by Kathryn Bigelow. She played the role of the female protagonist Maya in the film and gained high acclamation for the way she nicely depicted the character through her wonderful acting. Chaistain was highly grateful to her director and even told that without the director’s co-operation, it would just have been impossible for her to grab the award.  Zero Dark Thirty grabbed four Golden Globe Award nominations in different categories. The best actor award in the category of best Performance in a Motion Picture – Drama went to Daniel Day-Lewis for his outstanding performance in Lincoln. Daniel Day-Lewis succeeded in vividly depicting not the American President, but the man Abraham Lincoln. Daniel was highly grateful to his better-half Rebecca Miller for the immense co-operation she unleashed on behalf of her husband. The actor even admitted that without his wife’s support, it would have been impossible for him to get himself ready for the role.

The award for the best female performer in category of Best Performance in Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy went to none other than Jennifer Lawrence for her role as Tiffany Maxwell in the film Silver Linings Playbook.  There were other nominations for this category; Emily Blunt for her role as Harriet Chetwode-Talbot in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Judi Dench as Evelyn Greenslade in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Maggie Smith in Quartet and Meryl Streep for her role as Kay Soames in Hope Springs, but Jennifer was the best as well as one and only choice of the judges for the best performance award in the above said category. The prize for the Best Animated Feature film went to Brave. Adele and Paul Epworth’s “Skyfall” won the Best Original Song Award and Mychael Danna’s Life of Pi won the Best Original Score Award. Michael Haneke’s film Amour won the Golden Globe Award as the Best Foreign Language Film. Most men expected Nikolaj Arcel’s A Royal Affair to grab the award of the Best Foreign Language Film but Michael Haneke was the ultimate choice of the judges.

Game Change, a tele film grabbed three Golden Globe Awards as best motion picture on television. The telefilm’s main actress, Julianne Moore, plus Ed. Harris, the supporting actor of the telefilm also won awards. Homeland snatched three Golden Globe awards for the outstanding performance done by its male protagonist Damian Lewis and female protagonist Claire Danes. Homeland was awarded as the best dramatically series on television. In the sector of television comedy nothing came even closer to Girls! Its leading star Lena Dunham accepted the awards for Girls in the categories of best comedy and best star.

Kevin Costner grabbed the Golden Globe Award for the category of best performer in miniseries motion picture that has been made for Hatfields & McCoys. The prize for the best actress in supporting role for Downton Abbey (season two) went to Maggie Smith while Don Cheadle got the award of best actor for his role in House of Lies. Jodie Foster, who won the Cecil B. DeMille Award, mesmerized the audience with her high resonant speech at the ceremony.  Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who happened to be the hosts in the ceremony did really well and did not let the audience get bored even for a single moment.

The 70th Golden Globe Awards won the hearts of almost twenty million people in the U.S. alone. The ceremony awarded achievements in twenty-five different categories; fourteen categories in motion pictures and eleven categories in television have been recognized by The 70th Golden Globe Awards.
