YEH RISHTA KYA KEHLATA HAI: SETTING NEW BENCHMARKS FOR DRAMA SERIALS

June 21, 2011

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

How love gradually builds up its pace between two unknown people when they are bonded in an arranged marriage is very beautifully depicted in the serial, “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.” This one has a very simple, yet very touch story line. The story resembles the everyday life of a young girl whom her parents have brought up with much love and care and then arranged her marriage to a totally unknown person. It is really amazing to experience how the young girl turns into a matured woman with the many responsibilities of a family.

Hina Khan, starring as Akshara, is the young girl who is now married to Naitik. She is very beautiful and seems like a girl next door. After marriage, along with her responsibilities to the family, she discovered the true feeling of love. The serial is about Marwari families and the ethics, traditions, culture and disciplines of the society are beautifully lined up in the serial with the importance of every small and big function and rituals of our life. Although the storyline of the serial is very simple, still it never bores me or any of my acquaintances who follow the serial regularly. If you are watching this, then you will also guess that how such a simple everyday story has the power to charm and attract you towards the serial.

Love, this simple is demonstrated with every feeling that we cannot express a lot of times to our loved ones. The realization of love after marriage is a nice and unique feeling. Moreover, the concept of joint family and maintaining the true relationship with everyone of the family is very necessary in the present concept of nuclear family. It is an eye-opener for today’s so frequent break-ups. So the serial wins TRPs because of its simplicities. There is not a single so called villain character in this serial which makes it unique and different from any other conventional serial. All the characters and their behavior in Akshara families are so natural that it makes us feel that the same thing is happening in our own life.

“Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” is my favorite serial and perhaps till date I’ve missed just once or twice. It is aired on Star Plus, five days a week, from Monday to Friday, at 9.30 PM. What about you? Watch it today and share your feelings with me.

KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI SEASON 5: ALL SET TO ROCK INDIA ONCE AGAIN!

June 21, 2011

Hey! Big B is back again with the popular reality game show KBC 5. We just have to wait for some more days to watch the most popular television show again. Amitabh, with his charismatic voice and great personality, is ready to host the fifth session of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The mega hit quiz show will be aired from August on the Sony Entertainment channel. This show is an Indian version of the internationally popular game show, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”

The first session of this show was aired in 2000 on Star Plus. The show changed the dynamics of Indian television. Moreover, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan was the host of the first reality game show in Indian television. As far as I remember, every living room of every house experienced the thrill of the show at that time. The show was on the television screens from 9-10 PM with hardly a soul out on the roads the roads just like the first time when “Mahabharata” was on television. The show was so popular that it won maximum TRP of that time among all other Indian channels.

With the success and popularity of the show, Star Plus returned with the second session of the show with the same host in 2005. The third session appeared on the same channel but this time, Bollywood Badshah replaced Big B. With the immense popularity of Sharukh Khan, the show also became popular but could not win so much TRP like its earlier sessions. Even though, Sharukh is my favorite, still I must say that something was missing in KBC without Bachchan. His charismatic appearance brings in extra glory to the show.

Then, Sony Entertainment Television took the initiative to bring back the fourth show with Amitabh in 2010 and again regained the same popularity and TRP. Finally it is the time for the fifth session to be aired on the same Sony channel.

The 68 year old star, Amitabh Bachchan has already shot the first promo of KBC 5 which has already been telecasted. The phone lines are also open for registration of those who wish to participate in the show. I personally feel, this time the show will rock again. Therefore, if you are an Indian citizen of 18 years or above and if your aim is either to win the title “Crorepati” or to meet Amitabh, then don’t wait, just make a call to register for the show. If you have more queries, then you can email directly to kbcresponse@setindia.com or log on to www.setindia.com. I hope you will participate and  I wish you good luck for that.

MAA ON STAR JALSA : REACHING NEW HEIGHTS OF POPULARITY

June 21, 2011

“Maa”, the name itself gives the idea of the story. The serial, aired on Star Jalsha, is very popular and is about a girl named Pari, who is trying hard to find out her parents as she was kidnapped from a fair when she was only 3 years old. She grew up under the guidance of the kidnapper, Hira Amma, who later turned the little cute girl into a thief. Although, she was into such an illegal profession, even such a deplorable environment could not influence her hereditary characteristics at all. She was honest and never lied in any situation. As a thief, she was known as Jhilik. Finally after fighting with many tough situations, she succeeded in finding out her true parents. Thereafter, she again ends up in a situation where she is in front of her parents but cannot disclose her true identity to them and address her mother as “Maa”. Recently her parents have come to know about her who she really is and accepted her in their family.

The serial is very popular with people of all ages. There are a number of child artists and their innocent acting is enjoyed by everyone.  The other characters are also very nice and funny. The character played by Rohit Mukherjee as Pari’s uncle is also very attractive and funny. I hope if you watch him, you will enjoy the character and want to have somebody like him in your family. But Pari’s “pishi-thamma”, as she is known in the serial, is very jealous and cannot tolerate Pari. She always tries to create problems in Pari’s life. I guess none of the viewers like her character.

Pari is undoubtedly, very clever and intelligent, have high justification power and can even sacrifice her life for the welfare of her family members. But in reality, a child can be like this to some extent, but the limits of her intelligence and bravery represent in the story is can only imaginery. I personally feel that the director should try and make to make the story more realistic. Sometimes it really seems like we are viewing a fairy tale. Moreover, now when Pari has finally won back her original identity, the story should ideally be nearing its end, but because of its high TRP, I feel the director is planning to extend it further which would lead to a row of boring episodes.  This is my point of view,  but do let me know what you feel about it.
